Bioheat® fuel comes in a variety of blends, which are classified according to the percentage of renewable fuel they include. B5 Bioheat fuel is made with 5% biodiesel, B10 includes 10%, etc. Our B20 Bioheat Plus fuel is a blended fuel that is made up of 80% ultra-low-sulfur heating oil and 20% biodiesel. The ultra-low-sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) has almost all of the sulfur removed, going from 4,000 ppm (parts per million) to a mere 15 ppm! That alone produces a fuel with dramatically cleaner emissions.
ULSHO is just the beginning! Biodiesel takes cleaner-burning operations and eco-friendliness to the next level. Biodiesel is made from natural, carbon-neutral, and renewable resources, including:
- plant oils such as soybean, corn, rapeseed, palm and sunflower
- animal fats
- recycled cooking oils from commercial kitchens like restaurants and event spaces
- algae
B20 Bioheat Plus fuel reduces CO2 emissions by 14.6% from the emissions of traditional heating oil.
This clean-burning, high-efficiency blend of biodiesel and ULSHO outshines standard heating oil in every possible way.
