Advantages

Zone Your Comfort

One of the most frustrating parts of traditional radiant or forced-air heating systems, as well as central air conditioning systems, is that most rely on a single thermostat to control the heating and cooling of an entire home or business.

Ductless mini-splits operate independently of each other, allowing you to adjust the heating and cooling for different parts of your home. During the day, you can turn down the heat pumps for sleeping areas while focusing on keeping the living areas comfortable.

Zoned heating and cooling increase your comfort while reducing your energy costs because your system is generating heated or cooled air exactly where it’s needed and used.

Conversely, traditional HVAC systems that use ductwork to circulate heated or cooled air can lose up to 30% of that air thanks to leaks and radiant loss inside the ductwork. Not needing ductwork helps you save money because you won’t have the expenses of cleaning or repairing it.

All this efficiency means that ductless mini-splits can cut your cooling costs by 30% or more and your heating costs by 60% or more!

How Do Ductless Mini-Splits Work?

Ductless mini-splits are very easy to operate. Just push a button, and you can go from heating to cooling. There’s no need for two systems!

The outdoor compressor unit and the indoor air handler, often known as the evaporator, are the two components of a heat pump. They’re connected by a conduit that contains the tubing and the power lines, as well as communications and condensate drain lines.

Cooling: The compressor does what its name implies and compresses the refrigerant, which is transported to the condenser, where it loses heat. That heat is transferred into the surrounding air outside. The refrigerant, which is now a liquid, is sent through the tube to the evaporator. It absorbs heat from the indoor air that is blown over the evaporator coils. The cooled air is then distributed throughout your house.

Heating: In the winter, the closed-loop heat pump system is reversed. Instead of extracting heat from within the house, the heat is drawn from the air outside.

When the refrigerant pressure reduces and it becomes a vapor, it cools to a temperature considerably less than that of the air outside. Because heat energy flows from hot to cold, the refrigerant absorbs heat from its surroundings. The compressor on the outside pressurizes the gas into a hot liquid once it has absorbed all the heat available. The extremely hot refrigerant is delivered to your indoor coils, where your blower is used to release the heat into your home.

Versatile

You have choices for mini-split installation!

We help you choose the right type of installation for your mini-splits so you get maximum comfort.

Wall-mounted

These mini-split units are mounted high up on the wall and out of your way. Wall-mounted units are great for living room and bedrooms, where personalized comfort is paramount.

Ceiling-recessed

This modern, low-profile, recessed mini-split ceiling-cassette design takes up zero wall space, blends with your ceiling, and is perfect in the kitchen, where wall space is usually scarce.

Floor-mounted

Installed low on the wall, near the floor, these floor-mounted mini-split units make a great alternative to radiators and can fit into spaces with limited upper-wall space, like sunrooms or attics.
